A three-day international research workshop
The workshop is part of a large-scale study funded by the Israel Science Foundation (ISF), conducted as a collaboration between the Baerwald School of Social Work and Social Welfare at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and Oranim College of Education.
The proposed workshop will bring together prominent researchers who specialize in child sexual abuse; cultural aspects and contexts of child maltreatment; culturally sensitive intervention and prevention of maltreatment in educational settings; and experts in qualitative and quantitative methodology. The workshop aims to provide a space for in-depth, multi-perspective, and context-informed discussions between researchers from the fields of education, social work, criminology, sociology, psychology, and anthropology, thus enriching our collective insights and knowledge regarding educators’ coping with CSA. In addition, this will be an opportunity for researchers engaged in practice-based research and professional training to share their views, experience, and knowledge regarding the challenges and opportunities involved in research, prevention, intervention, and treatment of CSA within diverse societies.
Therefore, the workshop will address the following main topics:
• Theoretical and practical knowledge concerning the experiences of educators confronting CSA in schools within multicultural contexts.
• Methodological and ethical aspects of conducting research into the matter of educators contending with CSA within diverse cultural communities.
• Culturally-informed prevention and intervention strategies for educators coping with CSA in diverse cultures and religious groups.
